Emmerdale star set to make soap comeback months after unexpected exit
Emmerdale star Emile John was killed off earlier this year after his character Ethan Anderson sadly passed away - now the actor is set to make a return
Emmerdale’s Emile John, known for his role as Ethan Anderson, has secured a new acting gig on BBC’s Casualty after his character met a tragic end in the ITV soap. Emile’s portrayal of Ethan won him fans until the character’s shocking exit earlier this year, following a dramatic storyline involving a hit and run that left his friend dead and Ethan succumbing to an undiagnosed brain aneurysm just before a court hearing.
The actor took to social media to express his gratitude and share his excitement about his upcoming guest appearance on the long-standing medical drama. In a heartfelt message to his followers, Emile wrote: “After three years, Ethan’s journey on Emmerdale has come to an end. I feel extremely privileged to have entered this industry working on such an Iconic show.”
“I honestly had the time of my life! Sharing the space with such talented folk on and off screen for the last few years has been a huge honour and an experience that’ll stay with me always.”
He continued by thanking his supporters: “Huge thank you to those of you who have been invested in any of my storylines throughout my time on the show, seeing your reactions and opening important conversations have made it all the more worth it! With Love, Ethan Out.”
Emile John, who played Ethan Anderson in Emmerdale, has hinted at a potential move to the big screen. Responding to a fan’s query during an Instagram Q&A, he said: “Me too bruh. Me too.”, reports the Mirror.

A source told The Sun that Emile’s decision to leave Emmerdale was a risk, but it seems to have paid off as he enjoyed his time on Casualty, a show considered a rite of passage for many actors.
After his character was killed off, Emile bid farewell to Emmerdale fans in a video shared by the soap. He expressed his gratitude to the cast and crew, saying: “Good evening, guys.
“If you’re watching this, then that unfortunately means that Ethan Anderson has passed away and therefore means he will no longer be in the village.”

I just want to say a huge thank you to all the cast and all the crew that I have worked with over these three years. It’s absolutely flown by. A lot of the cast have sort of just taken me under their wing.
“It’s been such a ride, such a journey, and one that I’ve really learned so much on. I want to thank you the viewers that have stayed tuned and sort of kept up with Ethan’s journey. Thank you so much.”
