Emmerdale reveals heartbreaking details about Zak Dingle’s death as cast cry ‘real tears’

Emmerdale spoilers have given a devastating insight into the turmoil faced by the Dingles next week on the ITV soap, as village legend Zak Dingle's death is announced

Emmerdale will air a devastating death next week on the ITV soap, spoilers have confirmed.

It’s time for the soap to say a sad goodbye to ITV soap legend Zak Dingle, who passes away after illness. In a recent episode Cain Dingle went to visit his dad in Scotland after he was under the weather.

But sadly Debbie Dingle is left confirming the news that Zak has passed away next week, with spoilers detailing the emotional scenes ahead. Debbie makes contact and phones her dad Cain only for Moira to answer the call.

Moira then must break the devastating news to Cain about his beloved father who he’s only just left in Scotland. Soon, it’s up to Cain to inform his shocked and devastated family about Zak’s death, including his siblings Belle and Sam Dingle.

The family rally together to support each other as news of Zak’s sad death spreads around the village, leaving everyone in pieces. Cain and Sam find Belle outside and the trio reminisce about their father, after what has already been a difficult year for the three of them.

They and the rest of the Dingles take comfort in being together, with Sam and Cain deciding to head to Debbie’s in Scotland to bring their father home to the village. Villagers gather on Main Street to wave Sam and Cain off and later in the week it’s Zak’s funeral.

As the family prepares to say goodbye, they gather and raise a glass in Zak’s memory. It comes almost a year after the death of their co-star Steve Halliwell, who played Zak for decades.

Steve passed away last December leaving his co-stars devastated. Mandy Dingle actress Lisa Riley recently spoke exclusively to The Mirror about the heartbreak ahead, detailing that fans will see the real-life tears and anguish of the show’s cast during the sad episodes.

Speaking to the Mirror at the Inside Soap Awards after winning Best Family, she said: “We never take it for granted and we appreciate it even more than ever because we’re doing Steve [Halliwell’s] memorial episode. We really want to put it on the mantelpiece but it’s too posh for the house. But it means the most this year, definitely.”

Opening up about filming the scenes, Lisa said: “There’s moments you’ll see when it’s transmitted where you can see sometimes it’s us, it’s our own anguish where we’re missing him so much.”

She continued: “We promised from now on, whether we’re inside of the house or out on the set, we want to talk about him like he was always there, like he’s still there because of his energy. He taught us so much when we were young that we’ve taken and we can pass onto the next generation of Dingles.”
