EastEnders Icon Reveals The Truth Behind Debbie’s Stroke, Was Reiss Behind It?

EastEnders Spoilers - Reiss - 18th Sept

EastEnders fans and viewers know that Reiss Colwell is a troublesome man and there is no doubt about it. The Walford accountant killed his comatose wife last month after he was through some major financial issues. Viewers know that Debbie suffered a stroke which led to her requiring full-time care. But amid a twist in a recent episode as well as her death, some hints about Reiss’ history made fans convinced that he might be the reason behind Debbie’s health scare in the first place.

We witnessed Debbie’s parents, Brenda and Hugh, sitting with Reiss, where she had named her parents as absolute beneficiaries of all her savings the week prior to her stroke. The only thing she left for her husband was her antique doll’s house. It was also revealed that Debbie wanted to leave Reiss and that she was unhappy in her marriage. This led to fans wondering that wife murderer might be behind Debbie’s condition.

However, Reiss actor Jonny Freeman cleared the air while speaking to The Mirror at the Inside Soap Awards earlier this week. The soap actor mentioned that he had no idea about Debbie’s true feelings and wouldn’t have gone out of his way to hurt her. Freeman said, “I don’t know if it’s my place to say but he didn’t cause her stroke. The way I look at it, Debbie’s parents are getting angry now..”

The star also highlighted that he advocates for Reiss as he lost all of his money paying for her care, so in his mind, he’s done right by her. “Maybe not by killing her, but even then, I think in his mind, it was consensual, and it was mercy, however mad that might be,” he added. Oh god! this storyline is getting more twisted by every passing minute and we are all here just for drama, right?
