Their Emmerdale romance was derailed when Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) discovered she had breast cancer, and her focus had to shift from her love life to her health. But hope is alive for a rekindling of Chas and Liam!
They first felt sparks last year during an unexpectedly charged minute. But during an intimate moment, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) found a lump in Chas’ breast and the trajectory of their romance was immediately changed.
Chas ended things with him to focus on her survival, but during the course of her treatment she realised she still had feelings for the local GP.
By the time she realised she should tell him, he’d found Ella Forster (Paula Lane) and struck up a relationship.
Chas, not someone to usually give up what she wants, bowed out of the fight for Dr Liam over her own self-esteem after having both breasts removed, leaving the way clear for Ella.
But the path was not entirely blocked for Chas, as Liam discovered Ella was a child killer, which immediately put paid to their relationship.
He was distraught by this discovery, and there was a moment when Chas comforted him that it looked like there might still be a chance for them.
But then when Ella returned to the village pregnant, and after she lost the baby to a silent miscarriage – not before he accused her of faking the pregnancy – the pair seemed to get things back on track.
When he tried to move too fast, Ella swiftly put him in his place, but things have been a bit up in the air between them ever since.
Throughout this whole shebang, Emmerdale has dropped little titbits that Liam and Chas might not be done, and we had a feeling this might pop back up when the time was right. Is now the time?
Chas turns to Liam for help when she discovers a new rash. He checks her out, and later finds himself lying to Ella about spending time with Chas.
This fib is a huge red flag – if there was nothing untoward going on he’d have no problem being honest. Liam and Chas share a charged look, giving a nod to what’s to come between them.
This could be a terrible turn of events for Ella, who’s convinced she’ll never get her happily ever after.
Fate seems to be proving that to be true. Will indecisive Liam find himself in the centre of a love triangle?
