Emmerdale’s Daisy Campbell admits biggest worry about Tom King abuse storyline
Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) has been totally taken in by Tom King’s (James Chase) manipulative lies, leaving Emmerdale fans worried for her safety.
Viewers will know that Tom has subjected wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) to vile abuse over the last year, leaving her physically injured and questioning her own mental health on multiple occasions.
When Belle worked up the courage to leave him, he almost immediately set his sights on young Amelia, and the pair have since entered into a relationship.
In recent scenes, Tom went missing from the village, and it was soon revealed that Amelia knew exactly where he was, and had been covering for him.
However, in upcoming scenes, questions arise as to who she is really loyal to when she pulls Belle aside for a chat. Has Amelia seen through Tom’s gaslighting?
Unfortunately, actress Daisy Campbell couldn’t give too much away when we spoke to her at the Cure Usher Ball, but she urged viewers not to miss the upcoming episodes.
‘You’ll have to keep watching, I can’t give away too much!’ She teased. ‘But it’s good. It’s good stuff. They always do good stuff.’
Speaking about the storyline, the actress revealed that she was worried about Amelia being involved with Tom at first because of her age.
‘I love working with James, who plays him, because he’s so good at what he does and I think we work really well together.
‘But I was a bit [worried] at first because my character is so young. But I always forget she’s 18 now. It’s working well, I really like working with him, so it’s good.’
Elsewhere, Charity Dingle actress Emma Atkins also promised some dramatic scenes ahead as this storyline reaches its conclusion.
‘I think Belle deserves a bit of a break now, and she’s wholeheartedly going to get one for a while,’ she told us.
‘But, obviously, they’ve got to wrap that up in some way, so there’s a lot more excitement in that.’
In the coming days, Amelia’s shifty behaviour is a cause for concern for Kerry and Amy Wyatt (Laura Norton and Natalie Ann Jamieson), and they soon come to the conclusion that she must still be in contact with Tom – something that leaves Amy worried.
‘Amy is really protective over Amelia. She sees her as a little sister,’ actress Natalie Ann Jamieson told us.
‘Amy’s past is from working in a women’s shelter when she was in Belfast, so she’s really concerned because she can see the signs of the coercive control and she tries really hard to help Amelia.’
Will Amelia see Tom’s true colours and escape him, or is she too in serious danger?
