Zoe Henry has opened up about how “draining” her scenes on Emmerdale are at the moment.

The actress has played Rhona Goskirk on the ITV soap for several years but she admits the recent storyline, which has seen her and Marlon take on her ex Gus who stole her embryos, after the birth of baby Ivy. Rhona was horrified to find out she has no rights over baby Ivy even though technically she is her biological child as the embryos were hers and Gus’ when they were together.

There have been fears from fans that Rhona may end up in prison after she was arrested for the kidnapping of baby Ivy, leaving viewers worried that there could be an exit on the cards for Rhona actress Zoe.

Speaking about the dramatic scenes, and admitting they can be tough to film, she said: “It’s exhausting, I will say that. But I think we’re all pretty good at leaving work at work and snapping it off.

Is an exit on the cards for Rhona?

“That’s really important, particularly when soaps are so quick and you’re shooting a lot of content in a day, it can be quite draining. But it’s always a joy. I think we all feel very fortunate to be telling this story so it’s exhausting but it’s what we get paid for.”

Mark Charnock – who plays Marlon on the soap – described it as a “fantastic” story to play.

“It’s been fantastic. It’s a great story to play because it’s so different to anything else I’ve seen or done. It’s been brilliant working with the group of actors that we’ve been isolated with over this story. It’s been intense, but satisfyingly intense and you go home feeling like you’ve had a good day on set,” he explained of working alongside Zoe and Alan on the emotional scenes.

Alan made his soap debut starring as Rhona’s ex husband Gus. He said of his time on the show: “I feel very fortunate to have come into the show with such a great storyline and to work with these guys who are brilliant. We have intense days but fun days as well. We’ve managed to make it home with a smile on our faces after some harrowing work. It’s been a great story to be a part of.”
