Emmerdale legend jailed for four years in exit story – as another resident is arrested
Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Earlier this year, Samson was stabbed by Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano). The ordeal only took place because Samson’s horrible mate Josh (Osian Morgan) pushed him into Matty, who happened to be holding a knife at the time.
What followed next was a storyline that focused on a very innocent Matty spending time behind bars. Because he is transgender, Matty lived in fear everyday that he’d end up in danger if his identity was exposed to the other inmates.
Eventually, Matty ended up in hospital after telling cellmate Les to attack him. In a heartbreaking twist, Matty orchestrated this because he knew he’d feel safer surrounded by doctors and nurses in a hospital.
In the village, as Lydia (Karen Blick) discovered the truth about the attack, she sat Samson down and managed to get him to confess.
After very nearly going on the run, Samson came to his senses and knew he had to tell the police the truth. The situation was made worse yesterday though, as Samson was arrested after fighting with Josh.
The incident was picked up on Pollard’s (Chris Chittell) CCTV and tonight, we learnt Josh had also been arrested.
Also in the instalment, Cain (Jeff Hordley) continued to accuse Moira (Natalie J Robb) of dobbing Samson into the police. She continuously said she wasn’t responsible but because of the hatred she feels towards Samson, Cain didn’t believe her.
In the pub, as Cain, Moira, Charity (Emma Atkins), Amelia (Daisy Campbell) and Noah (Jack Downham) chatted, Lydia entered with some news.
After attending the plea hearing, Lydia was in the pub to confirm Samson’s fate – he’s been sentenced to four years. In that moment, Lydia also revealed Samson was yet to receive his charge for assaulting Josh, meaning his time in prison will more than likely increase.
As the family reeled from the news, many still believed Moira had called the police on Samson.
Meanwhile, Amelia was in the pub back room, trying to process the fact daughter Esther has not only lost her granddad to prison, but her biological father too.
When Noah entered, he was taken aback when Amelia said she had been on his phone and spotted the last number he had called – the police.
As Amelia’s anger grew towards Noah, Samson was spending time with dad Sam (James Hooton) for one final time.
