ITV Emmerdale exit ‘sealed’ after 18 years amid new family ‘betrayal’

Emmerdale viewers could be saying goodbye to one character next week after 18 years as a new family 'betrayal' is teased on the long-running ITV soap

Emmerdale fans could be saying goodbye to one character next week after 18 years.

Spoilers for next week reveal even more tension between Moira Dingle and Samson Dingle following the latter’s lies. Soap fans will recall that Samson recently lied to the police in order to protect his evil mate, Josh, but this meant Moira’s son Matty Barton was wrongly put in prison, where he had a terrifying ordeal before he was finally freed.

In upcoming scenes, Moira can’t hide her contempt for Samson and later Samson finally finds the bravery to stand up to vile Josh. However, Samson’s parents Sam and Lydia are soon horrified when Samson gets arrested for assault on Josh. Meanwhile, Moira is satisfied as she watches Samson heading to the police station with her husband, Cain Dingle, suspicious over whether his wife was involved in the arrest.

Later in the week, over at The Woolpack, Amelia Spencer is anxious for news of Samson’s plea hearing as she worries about the repercussions for her daughter, Esther, of having her biological dad locked up. Later, The Woolpack is silenced when Lydia enters with news from court… could this be an exit for Samson after 18 years and did Moira report him to the police?

It comes as Samson star Sam Hall had a three-word response as he was grilled on his soap future earlier this month. The actor appeared on Loose Women with on-screen father Sam Dingle star James Hooton, where chat got onto the iconic characters’ soap futures.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Sam, 20, had been axed from the hit ITV soap after 15 years and while no exit has been confirmed as of yet, Sam, who has remained tight-lipped about his existing storylines, insisted back in May that he is not being killed off.

During Loose Women, actors Sam and James were grilled about their soap futures. Guest panellist, Mariella Frostrup, asked Sam: “Do you reckon you’ve got another 15 years in you Sam?” to which the actor replied in a three-word response: “I hope so!” Meanwhile, the same question was asked to James, who has played Sam Dingle for almost 30 years, as he quipped: “I’ll try my best, as long as they’ll have me, I’ll stay there!”
