Emmerdale Belle’s fate revealed after Tom attack as fans ‘crying’ over powerful episode
Emmerdale aired an emotional two-hander episode starring Belle Dingle and Tom King amid the heartbreaking domestic abuse storyline.
Tom attacked Belle
Emmerdale has revealed the fate of Belle Dingle after blood was found in her and Tom King’s Welsh cottage.
This year, soap favourite Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Droper) has been at the centre of a gripping domestic abuse storyline with her new husband Tom (James Chase).
His reign of terror escalated when he discovered she had terminated their unborn child. Belle initially deceived Tom by claiming she had suffered a miscarriage, but eventually found out leaving him enraged.
Recently, the pair, and Belle’s dog, Piper, left the village to stop at a cottage Wales – where Tom is secretly planning to move permanently.
Their sudden exit sparked worry with Belle’s family, who after finding the address, tracked Belle down and headed to the mystery cottage. However, while there, they made a startling discovery.
Arriving at the Welsh holiday property they found blood streaked across a door. And Wednesday’s episode (July 24) revealed what exactly happened – with flashback scenes from Tom and Belle’s arrival at the cottage.
Things took a dramatic turn
During their stay at the cottage, Belle overheard Tom on the phone to the landlord of the cottage where he told them he would be in touch soon about coming back on a more permanent basis.
Belle was stunned, pointing out that they have never discussed a move to Wales. A row soon broke out that saw him break several glasses, before slapping Belle across the floor.
Belle sliced her hand on the glass, and after a shouting match from Tom, she got up and ran away. Nasty Tom eventually wormed his way back into Belle’s good backs but things took a more harrowing turn when he locked Belle inside the property, as he headed out.
Fans applauded the soap for the intense episode
Later on in their cottage stay, Tom continued to abuse Belle – forcing her to eat the toast she made for him, because it was burnt. However, while Tom was showering upstairs, it appeared the penny dropped for Belle.
Realising enough is enough, she scooped up her dog and Piper and made a run for it. Tom saw her and chased her downstairs – only for her to lock him inside the house.
Fuming, Tom then ripped the cottage apart before climbing out of a window. Meanwhile Belle ran as fast as she could through the Welsh countryside away from her abuser.
Belle managed to make a getaway
In dramatic scenes, Belle eventually flagged down a bus, and jumped on – leaving Tom chasing after her behind her. Sitting on the bus with her pup, Belle smiled to herself before the episode ending, finally free.
Viewers were quick to share their thoughts on the emotional episode. One person wrote: “Best episode in ages.”
Someone else wrote: “My heart is beating so fast, I cried when she got on the bus. I don’t think I can deal with anymore of these scenes. I hope that’s the end of it. You can bet your bottom dollar Cain and Charity drive past the bus going to the cottage.
A third proclaimed: “Say what you like the storyline dragging on but that episode was brilliantly done!” Another penned: “Emmerdale was an especially difficult watch tonight. Writers & actors have done an excellent job portraying DA. Upsetting for those of us who’ve been there, but important to tell. Well done.”
