Emmerdale’s Caleb Milligan ‘set to finally pay’ as scorned resident seeks revenge – and it’s not Nate Robinson
In one well-timed speech at Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Tom King (James Chase)’s wedding in Emmerdale, Ruby Fox-Milligan (Beth Cordingly) managed to turn most of his family against him.
Revealing that he’d been having an affair with Tracy Robinson (Amy Walsh) – the wife of his nephew Nate (Jurell Carter), who is Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley)’s son – Ruby ensured that everyone knew what a love-rat her husband was. Caleb’s position as part of the Dingle clan was suddenly on very shaky ground.
In Monday (February 19)’s episode, Caleb and Ruby were off out for the day. Ruby was hoping for shopping, a swanky meal and perhaps a night in a boutique hotel. Obviously they were going further than Hotten for all this.
Then Caleb spotted Moira (Natalie J. Robb), and his priorities quickly became clear. He begged Moira to help him mend his broken relationship with his family. He said his family meant ‘everything’ to him and he would do anything not to lose it.
He also had some choice words to say about how irresistible Tracy had been, which was supposed to explain why he’d jumped into bed with her but a listening Ruby was fuming that Caleb would say such things aloud right in front of her.
She was also fuming when, after Moira had said there wasn’t really anything she could do, Caleb changed his mind about their day out and just wanted to go home.
Earlier, Ruby had had a chance encounter with Kim Tate (Claire King) and it was just about as delicious as you would imagine.
‘You must be the snake’s wife,’ Kim greeted her when she realised who she was talking to.
‘Any enemy of Caleb’s is an enemy of mine,’ Ruby retorted, making it clear where her priorities were.
But she revisited this opinion after the conversation with Moira, after realising that Kim might be more useful as a friend than an enemy. After all, nobody has more reason to dislike Caleb than Kim.
He’s the one who tried to destroy her and swindle her out of her entire fortune, after all. And Kim is powerful and clever, which is why she saw through Caleb’s plot and ensured it didn’t work.
Ruby realised that the number one thing she wanted to make her happy was for Caleb to leave the village (or ‘this incestuous dump’ as she described it) and his new-found allegiance to the Dingles so she could have him all to herself.
She knew that her best ally in this was someone who also wanted him gone from the Dales – but for completely different reasons.
So she paid a visit to Home Farm and told Kim she could help her cut Caleb down to size. Kim was obviously wary of her and wanted to know why Ruby would possibly want to team up with her.
‘I always get what I want,’ Ruby declared. ‘I intend to make Caleb wish he’d never set foot in this village.’
Now Kim was intrigued. ‘Go on,’ she said. ‘I’m listening.’
Poor Caleb. He has no chance.
