Emmerdale’s Kim tells lie that could destroy her life as Evan is rushed to hospital
Kim Tate (Claire King) told a lie that could come back to bite her, as the Fletchers faced more anguish over poorly baby Evan in Thursday’s (11 July).
The latest episode of the ITV soap saw Dawn and Billy’s (Olivia Bromley and Jay Kontzle)’s son rushed to hospital with an infection, despite the stringent hygiene measures a fraught Dawn had put in place at Home Farm.
The episode began with Kim covering for Billy about his whereabouts the night before, telling Dawn she’d sent him on an overnight job to Bristol. In reality, he was out drinking with Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), where social distancing had been compromised.
After Rose Jackson (Christine Tremarco) noticed Evan – who was born with a weakened immune system – had been coughing, a worried Dawn discovered he also had a temperature, and took him straight to hospital, where it was revealed he’d picked up an infection.
As the new mum was distraught that her son was back under doctor’s care, her attention soon turned to how Evan had managed to get sick in the first place and began pointing fingers.
Nate started to panic that his night out could have compromised his son’s health, but Kim was quick to point out that an infection could not develop so quickly.
Dawn then started to get suspicious about the cover story Kim had given her about Nate’s whereabouts, and pressed her husband on where he’d really been.
But Kim then took matters into her own hands and took the rap, lying that she’d been to a business meeting at a hotel bar, which likely caused Evan’s infection.
The confession left Dawn, her mum Rose and Kim’s partner Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) disgusted at her selfishness.
With Evan still not out of the woods, will Kim find herself further ostracised from Will and Dawn? And will the scheming Rose use this in her harebrained scheme to take Kim down?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
