ITV Emmerdale Matty’s freedom ‘confirmed’ after vital detail as Josh’s downfall ‘sealed’

Emmerdale viewers are convinced they've rumbled Matty Barton's freedom and Josh's downfall after a shocking twist on Thursday night, where Samson Dingle was stabbed

Emmerdale viewers are convinced they’ve rumbled Matty Barton’s freedom.

Samson Dingle was stabbed in huge scenes on Thursday night with Matty to blame for what has happened after the knife he was holding ended up in Samson’s stomach. In shocking scenes, Samson’s new friend Josh confronted Matty after he poured their paid-for beers down the drain. He was furious over Josh constantly flirting with Amy, despite knowing that Matty and Amy were recently married.

Things escalated when vile Josh started referencing Matty being transgender and in a furious confrontation, Matty warned them to leave – but Josh wasn’t having it. He pushed Samson forward, and onto the knife that Matty was holding. In horrifying scenes, Samson was whisked away in an ambulance – whilst Matty found himself arrested.

On Friday’s episode, Matty was grilled by police as there was no CCTV footage to back up his claims while Josh threatened Samson to stick to his side of the story in order to keep themselves out of trouble. During the scene, Samson seemed very guilty as he pointed out that Matty is family. However, later on, Samson told the police that Matty had stabbed him with Cain Dingle, who is Matty’s stepfather, furious as he vowed to get the truth.

Despite Samson’s betrayal, with the character previously showing guilt over framing Matty, does this mean Samson will have a change of heart and support family member Matty over his new friend Josh? Or will Cain manage to expose the truth, therefore rescuing Matty. The theory coincides with Samson set to depart the village in upcoming weeks, could he be banished by the Dingles for betraying family?

Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to share their theories, one person said of Samson’s chat with Josh: “Please tell me Samsons recording him. #Emmerdale”, a different account put: “#emmerdale Superman Cain will sort it all out so he will” while another added: “Yesssssss Cain watch ya back Samson #Emmerdale.”

However, whatever happens, actor Sam Hall – who plays teenager Samson – has insisted he won’t be killed off. He told Inside Soap: “Well, I don’t want to give too much away, but Samson has some really big stuff coming up. Don’t worry, as he’s definitely not being killed off! There are some good stories coming up for him, and I was very excited when I read the scripts.

“I like playing mean Samson, but I think his good side always shines through. Like with the baby storyline, he was worrying about Amelia being okay for Esther because Samson obviously lost his mum – and he didn’t want his kid to grow up without a mum.”

Speaking about his character’s past, he added: “So, he can get angry, but his intentions are always right in the end. At the end of the day, he was just a confused young teenager who didn’t really expect to be having a kid so soon.”
