Emmerdale has shed some light on the unexpected link between Ella Forster and Meena Jutla.

The ITV drama has unveiled a fascinating bond between Ella and Meena after yesterday’s episode dropped a significant hint. Strangely enough, theories pertaining to Ella’s true identity have been increasing – with Leyla discovering that Ella isn’t her real name.

Nevertheless, a fresh clue directs towards Ella being connected to murderess Meena who is suspected to be behind bars serving time for several killings of villagers such as the daughter of Ella’s partner, Dr Liam Cavanagh.

A zealous fan posted a key observation regarding the mystery of Ella’s identity on Reddit. In the picture, which showed next to Ella’s bag was a newspaper with Meena on the front page, they excitedly noted: “I couldn’t help but notice this in last night’s episode.

This has to be an old article since it just doesn’t make sense for it to make the headlines years after it happened (especially since it seems to be talking about either her being charged or sentenced), and since they were next to Ella’s handbag, it’s fairly safe to assume it’s hers.

“What would she be doing with an old newspaper about Meena? Maybe I’m reading too deep into this.”

Fans were quick to chime in with their own theories. One fan speculated: “My theory is that she is a former cellmate of Meena’s.

“Meena was jailed in April 2022, it’s plausible that they could’ve shared for quite some time before Ella was released and made her way to the village in December 2023. A stint in jail makes it more likely that Ella is using a new name/identity if she has been released after a long time inside.

“Meena may have been the first inmate to show her ‘kindness’ (a typical manipulative Meena move) and Ella may now feel in debt to her, especially as we’ve seen that Ella seemingly doesn’t have any friends or family,” reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, someone else suggested: “I think Ella is in witness protection.” Someone agreed: “That would explain everything about June, since the staff would have no idea that Ella is family (assuming June is her mother).”
