Is their marriage doomed?

Emmerdale to air major new setback for Rhona and Marlon

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale‘s Rhona Goskirk and Marlon Dingle struggle to get their marriage back on track next week.

The couple have vowed to fight for their future after nearly splitting up during a disastrous dinner party last week.

Rhona made a drunken vow to dump Marlon as they spent time with friends, family and colleagues at Tom and Belle King’s house.

Marlon was left in despair over the situation, but after some advice from Paddy Dingle, he suggested marriage counselling to Rhona and was relieved when she agreed to give it a try.

Next week, Marlon and Rhona head for their first counselling session.

The pair have lots to discuss, as Marlon has struggled to forgive Rhona for the damning statement she made against her ex-husband Gus Malcolms in court recently. He believes that Rhona should have told him what she was planning, although Rhona has insisted that it wasn’t premeditated.

Sadly, the counselling session doesn’t go well, despite Marlon and Rhona’s previous optimism. Are their issues even bigger than they’d realised?

Speaking recently about whether the couple can work things out, Zoe Henry – who plays Rhona – replied: “On a personal note, I very much hope so. But there’s no drama in happiness is there? Watch this space.”

On whether she’s surprised by the couple’s dramas, Zoe added: “Yes and no. They’ve been through a lot together, especially in the last three years, but I guess no relationship is infallible.

“The embryo story would be enough to break anyone, the emotional rollercoaster of it all. Then add to that Rhona’s change of heart in court – without consulting Marlon – it’s the perfect storm.”

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Thursday, May 24.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
