Emmerdale’s Paddy Kirk forced to come between Marlon and Rhona as divorce looms
Marlon Dingle and Rhona Goskirk have been going through a turbulent time in their marriage and it all comes to a head next week.
Paddy Kirk is forced to step in and offer some advice to Marlon Dingle
As Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and Rhona Ghoskirk’s marriage problems continue on Emmerdale, his best friend Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) will be forced to step in to help the warring pair.
In scenes set to air next week, Paddy talks to his pal Marlon following a disastrous dinner party the night before as he urges him to make amends with Rhona.
He later suggests marriage counselling but will she agree to it and could it save the relationship or is it over for good? Before his intervention, ITV soap spoilers have revealed Marlon and Rhona attend a tense dinner party with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor Draper) and her controlling husband Tom King (James Chase) in an episode yet to air.
They are joined by a loved-up Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) who only add to the awkwardness. Before long, Tom’s toast about marital solidarity exposes the cracks in Marlon and Rhona’s relationship even further.
Later on, Belle excuses herself from the table, saying the onions made her cry, but it’s obviously linked to her abusive husband. A row soon erupts between Marlon and Rhona as they address their strained private lives in a public setting.
Things come to a head between Marlon and Rhona next week
Rhona tries to leave, but a defiant Marlon rejects it, forcing her to seemingly end their marriage in front of everyone there.
Addressing the dinner party, Marlon actor Mark said: “Given the circumstance, there should be no alcohol involved but Rhona and Marlon try to escape themselves by drinking their way through this dinner party.
“The more alcohol they have the more free they get with what they’re saying with each other and the less subtle their mutual resentment becomes until the point where it just explodes.”
When asked how the presence of the other seemingly happy couples stokes the fire between Marlon and Rhona, he replied: “It’s like seeing what Marlon and Rhona had before this got stirred up.
Rhona and Marlon are at a crossroad in their relationship
“They can see the absolute delirious happiness of Mandy and Paddy and the contentment of Vanessa and Suzy.
“It escalates their situation very quickly seeing everything that they’re presently not.”
Cracks began to show between the pair when Rhona decided to turn against her ex-husband Gus Malcom in his court case, much to the dismay of Marlon.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
