Emmerdale star hospitalised for ‘four different reasons’
Former Emmerdale star Simon Lennon received outpouring love after revealing he was hospitalised four times for a variety of health reasons
The actor, best known for playing Ben Tucker on the ITV soap, took to Instagram and shared a snap of him in his hospital gown.
The 30-year-old penned: ‘Was in hospital last week to have a small procedure/surgery and was feeling quite reflective.
‘I’ve been in hospital for four different reasons in the last year and, luckily, I’m fine and doing well.’
He concluded: ‘I feel so unbelievably grateful for the NHS, the wonderful care workers we have looking after us, and the tireless level of dedication and support that they offer. Legends.’
Simon’s post was met with support from fellow soap stars including actress Bhavna Limbachia, who played Rana Habeeb on Coronation Street.
‘Sending love and healing your way,’ she wrote.
Actor Sean Sagar added: ‘Sending my love bro ❤️❤️❤️.’
Simon’s Emmerdale character Ben met a tragic end at Meena’s hands during an hour-long episode in 2021.
The HOP employee made his way up to his place of work in search of some evidence to prove that he wasn’t to blame for the bridge collapse during the survival event.
But his investigation turned up something much more sinister, as he found camera footage of the event in question, which revealed that Meena had attempted to kill Victoria Barton.
Meena got wind of his discovery and made her way up to the HOP to retrieve the camera, but Ben made a run for it, and Meena gave chase – but she slipped on some spilled alcohol.
Ben initially chose to leave her, but his conscience soon got the better of him, as he returned to the building to check if Meena was okay – a decision which ultimately led to his untimely death.
Simon Lennon, who played Ben for over a year on the show, has said that his character’s downfall was his niceness.
‘He was too nice for his own good!,’ said the actor in a goodbye message which Emmerdale’s official account shared on social media.
‘He shouldn’t have gone back!’
