Emmerdale legends mark first major milestone following devastating death
Emmerdale’s Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) has suffered fresh heartbreak in the wake of her twin brother Heath’s (Sebastian Dowling) death as her family celebrated their seventeenth birthday.
Emotions have ran high over the last month, after a horrific car crash saw Heath killed off on New Year’s Eve.
Heath was out joyriding in Brenda Walker’s (Lesley Dunlop) car with sister Cathy and neighbour Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) on the way to a party in Hotten when they lost control of the car causing a devastating accident.
While Cathy originally took responsibility for driving, causing much resentment from her father Bob (Tony Audenshaw) who thought he could never forgive his daughter, it later came to light that Angelica was the one behind the wheel.
Despite her parents Jimmy (Nick Miles) and Nicola’s (Nicola Wheeler) attempts to keep her involvement a secret, Angel cracked under the pressure and confessed everything.
In Friday’s (February 9) episode, Bob and Brenda struggled to keep it together as they watched Cathy unwrap her birthday presents – including a beautiful blue set of cashmere gloves and matching scarf.
Despite some initial upset, she said she wanted to spend the day with her friends and overheard her dad breaking his heart as she walked out.
At the cemetery, Cathy spoke openly at Heath’s graveside about how much it hurt to spend the day without him by her side.
Noticing her in quiet contemplation, Angel headed over and sat beside her on a bench hoping to make amends.
