Emmerdale spoilers – Kerry Wyatt steals the show from Amy in nudity chaos
One of the golden rules of weddings is that the mother-of-the-bride shouldn’t upstage the bride herself.
But when the mother in question is Emmerdale’s Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) there’s very little chance of her staying quietly in the background for Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) and Matty (Ash Palmisciano)’s wedding. Kerry does not do ‘background.’
After all, this is the woman who recently arrived back in the village after months away on a cruise ship – and she arrived dressed as Cher, complete with big wig and fishnet tights.
The same woman who delivered the most cringe-worthy marriage proposal ever when she asked Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) to marry her via the medium of rap.
Expecting anything resembling low-key from Kerry is a pretty futile exercise, so it comes as no surprise when she totally hijacks her daughter’s hen do.
‘She’ll just take over won’t she?’ Laura Norton told us. ‘But she’ll have to be careful because you know, she’s on a thin wire with Amy. So I think she’ll probably poke her nose in too much and God knows which direction that will go in then after that. Hopefully she won’t spoil anything.’
Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) thinks she’s got proceedings pretty much under control, but that’s when the naked butlers arrive.
Kerry’s thinking is that a party isn’t a party unless the drinks are being served by buff men wearing very few clothes, so she’s hired some specially.
It soon becomes clear that Kerry has a very specific vision for how the evening is going to go, and the rest of the guests just have to go along with what rapidly turns into the Kerry show.
She also offers to pay for the whole wedding, leaving Amy and Matty gobsmacked.
What they don’t know – but viewers do – is that the reason Kerry has got cash to splash around is that she arrived back from the cruise with a large quantity of cash and jewellery, which she’s been quietly selling off.
If Amy and Matty knew the source of Kerry’s money was most likely something very dodgy indeed, would they be happy to let her pay for the wedding?
