Emmerdale confirms major death as much-loved resident is attacked in 28 pictures

Tears will be shed in a highly emotive week on Emmerdale, as word of a tragic death reaches the residents of the eponymous village.

Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) is left utterly destroyed when she gets news of Pearl Ladderbanks’ (Meg Johnson) death, as confirmed in my picture gallery above.

The vet relays the sad news to Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick), who all struggling to process their grief as they mourn the loss of the much-loved icon.

Actress Meg Johnson, who played Pearl between 2003 and 2020, died last July.

Elsewhere in the village, emotions are running high for the Dingles during the week in question, with Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) proving to be a thorn in their side once more.

Ruby, as viewers know, is keen to move away from the village with Caleb (William Ash), but her efforts are scuppered by a conversation her hubby shares with Chas (Lucy Pargeter), with Caleb subsequently welcomed back into the Dingle clan with open arms.

An argument erupts in the Woolpack, with vengeful Ruby spoiling for a fight but she goes too far when, amid the chaos, she accidentally elbows recovering Chas in the chest!

Will Chas be okay? And has Ruby well and truly burned her bridges with Caleb this time?

That remains to be seen.
