Mandy and Paddy have been going through a rough patch after he kissed ChasCredit: ITVThe pair met in the late 1990’s, when Paddy (portrayed by Dominic Brunt) first appeared in the eponymous ITV village in locum for Zoe Tate.
Although initially happy, their marriage began to go downhill when Mandy (Lisa Riley) enrolled in a university course in Hotten.
Once there, she became attracted to her lecturer and the two embarked on an affair.
A guilt-ridden Mandy told everything before leaving the Dales to spend time in London.
When she came back, she found Paddy was no longer heartbroken as he’d settled down with Emily Wylie.
Decades have since gone by and, despite the romances that have followed Mandy, Paddy found his way back to her last year.
However, their relationship is far from smooth sailing as Mandy once dumped Paddy after he publicly humiliated her.
In more recent scenes, Paddy kissed his ex-wife Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) as she battles triple negative breast cancer.
The revelation was even more hurtful for Mandy when she learned that Chas had been the one to put a stop to the kiss, not Paddy.
Despite this, in scenes airing next week, Paddy is struggling with the situation and feels deflated but his pal Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) tries to convince him not to give up without a fight.
Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) later chimes in and persuades Paddy to lay it all on the line for Mandy.
Paddy is further bolstered when Tom King (James Chase) encourages him to sweep her off her feet and the unanimous encouragement gives him food for thought.
Meanwhile, at the Salon, Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) takes it upon herself to be Mandy’s fairy godmother and give her a makeover.
Paddy appears ready to fight for Mandy’s heart as he approaches the salon but he stalks off, unreadable.
In the salon, Mandy’s finally dressed up and ready in her Cinderella outfit as Paddy makes his way down the street also dressed to the nines.
The pair are reunited and Paddy gets down on one knee – could they get their happy ending?
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
