ITV Emmerdale fans left seriously distracted during vets scene amid sinister Tom storyline
Emmerdale viewers were left seriously distracted on Tuesday night during a scene at the village's veterinary surgery as the ITV soap's sinister Tom King storyline continued
Emmerdale fans were left seriously distracted on Tuesday night during a scene at the village’s veterinary surgery.
During the latest episode, Tom King told new wife Belle Dingle that he had to leave the surgery due to an animal emergency, leaving Belle in charge of the reception. However, things soon got chaotic as a number of customers with their animals entered the waiting room as Belle tried to hold down the surgery amid Tom’s absence.
However, soap fans were left seriously distracted during the scenes as they couldn’t believe the size of the dog and rabbit in the waiting room. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “The animal cast booker: “Yes can we have the largest dog and largest rabbit in the world please” #Emmerdale”, another viewer wrote: “Did they order the biggest animals they could find? #emmerdale”, a different fan said: “Why are they so BIG look at that b****y rabbit #Emmerdale” while another added: “That’s the biggest rabbit I’ve ever seen!! #Emmerdale.”
During the episode, Tom’s concerning behaviour towards Belle continued after their disagreement earlier this week about when to have children. Tom wants to start trying for a family straightaway but Belle wants to wait a while, instead building up her wellness business. However, evil Tom has been criticising Belle for her decision to postpone having children.

As Belle held down the fort at the vets, Suzy Merton entered the surgery looking for Vanessa Woodfield and she was surprised to see Belle behind the desk, where she wasted no time in telling an oblivious Belle about the job opportunity at Take A Vow. A furious Belle covered for Tom and pretended to Suzy that he had in fact passed on the message. However, later, Belle confronted Tom and accused him of lying to Suzy to which he managed turn it back on her in manipulative scenes.
It comes as Emmerdale announced earlier this year that it will depict Belle and Tom’s controlling and abusive marital relationship. Tom has been exhibiting clear signs of coercive control and there are indications this could develop into physical abuse, as well as mental abuse, as last year Belle covered up the fact that Tom shoved her, causing her to hit her head. So far, Belle has kept Tom’s behaviour to herself and things are only going to get more worrying when Tom starts using different methods of technology to assert his control over her.
The soap will be exploring the complex nature of domestic abuse over the coming weeks with various manifestations of abuse, including coercive control, emotional abuse, physical abuse and technology-facilitated abuse displayed by Tom. It will also highlight how escalates over time and how isolation from family and friends, love bombing, and manipulation can be used.
Emmerdale has been working with outside partners to research the hard-hitting topic, as well as domestic abuse charity New Beginnings Peer Support, after a rise in Tech Abuse following the Covid pandemic, which involves using trackers and hidden cameras to control and track a partner.
