Emmerdale shock as Marlon Dingle’s real age is revealed
THE chef has been a favourite in the village for more than two decades
EMMERDALE has given viewers a shock by revealing Marlon Dingle’s real age – and he doesn’t look anywhere near old enough.
The chef – who is played by actor Mark Charnock in the ITV soap – has been a regular character for more than two decades.
But tonight his true age was revealed.
In the episode his wife Rhona Goskirk was taken aback when Marlon asked her not to make a fuss about his upcoming big birthday, having totally forgotten to plan anything.
He told her: “I don’t want a party for my birthday.
“I’d sooner have something quiet with you and the kids. You can’t organise a big do, not with the court case coming up and working all hours and worrying about Ivy.
“It’s not the right time for celebrating, promise me you won’t make a fuss.”
But Rhona told him: “It’s your 50th, your friends and family want to celebrate you too.”
Despite Marlon trying to make her promise not to hold a big bash, Rhona went to Lydia to ask for her help to plan a big Dingle blowout.
But it’s still hard to believe Marlon is 50.
Meanwhile actor Mark previously opened up about how he hopes to stay on the show for a long time – but never thinks beyond his next contract.
“You’ll have heard this from other cast members,” he said.
“There’s a real family vibe here and, as I’ve said many times before, never ever, ever think beyond the contract.
“Assume the worst, is really the healthiest, best way of going forward.
“The great offspring of that is it keeps you on your toes all the time – you’ve got to keep trying your best. Never, ever take it for granted.”
