Emmerdale spoilers: Emotions run high for Chas after she undergoes life-changing surgery
After a worrying two months living with a cancerous lump in her breast, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) has had her double mastectomy operation in Emmerdale.
The lump was discovered when Chas hooked up with Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and he urged her to seek medical attention.
The discovery brought back sad memories of her mum Faith (Sally Dexter), who also had a double mastectomy but passed away in 2022.
After learning that she has the BCRA2 gene, she has encouraged son Aaron (Danny Miller) and brothers Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb (William Ash) to have a genetic test.
Upcoming scenes will see Aaron discover that his results have come back positive, and he will struggle to tell his family.
In tonight’s (14th March) episode, Chas visited her baby Grace’s graveside for a moment of contemplation before her surgery.
She also dwelled on the kiss she shared with ex-husband Paddy (Dominic Brunt) which has devastated Mandy (Lisa Riley).
Meanwhile, Lydia (Karen Blick) visited Aaron and told him that it was okay to be worried for his mum and although it is a major operation, he should be hopeful for her future.
Whilst packing her overnight bag, Chas realised that she’d picked up a bra and had a moment of realisation that her life was about to change forever.
Kissing goodbye to daughter Eve, she worried whether Charity (Emma Atkins) would be able to run The Woolpack alone following her own hospitalisation.
At the ward, she went numb listening to the doctors talk about her condition and the words drowned out around her.
In a surprise twist, after months of coming head to head with one another for absolutely no reason whatsoever, Aaron apologised to Cain, realising that life was too short.
We didn’t see that one coming!
Luckily, we were given an update on Chas towards the end of the episode and it seemed that the mastectomy was a success.
