Eric Pollard sinks to shocking low in Emmerdale – as he betrays fiancee Brenda Walker
What will the repercussions be for Eric's actions?
ERIC Pollard sunk to a shocking low as he betrayed fiancee Brenda Walker in Emmerdale.
In recent scenes, Eric (Chris Chittell) has started investing in cryptocurrency.
It now appears the character will secretly turn to Brenda’s (Lesley Dunlop) finances.
After receiving worrying news, Eric made a hasty getaway from his and Brenda’s engagement party.
Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) followed him home, only to be alarmed by what she discovered.
A visibly stressed out Eric told her his cryptocurrency account was empty.
Hoping to resolve the situation, he called Matthew, the “head of the investment hub”.
Leyla asked: “How much have you actually invested in this thing?”
To which Eric, while waiting for an answer on the phone, tearfully replied: “Everything.”
He later reiterated to Leyla how this, in fact, encompassed his entire savings.
Leyla warned him: “You hear about these things all the time. Scams. People are left penniless.”
Eric brushed this aside, as he responded: “We’re not penniless.
“Brenda’s got her savings. I know exactly what I’m doing.”
After returning home, Brenda went upstairs as Eric was shown starting to log in to her online banking.
He then made another call to Matthew, saying: “It’s Eric Pollard here.
“I was wondering if that premier rate is still on offer?”
Eric has had a tough time lately, having already received a diagnosis for Parkinson’s.
In upcoming scenes, he is confused when the uplift in cryptocurrency is not showing on his account.
Brenda is also confused, as there is seemingly no money in her bank account to pay for her wedding dress.
Assuaging her concerns, Eric claims this is due to a technology glitch.
The storyline comes amid news of Lesley Dunlop soon bowing out as Brenda.
Have the seeds for her exit just been planted?
Emmerdale continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
