‘It’s over!’ Major EastEnders couple split after ultimate betrayal with ex
This article contains spoilers for Monday’s episode of EastEnders, which is already available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
The wedding is officially off for Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) and George Knight (Colin Salmon) in EastEnders.
George put an end to the couple’s forthcoming nuptials after finding out about Elaine’s honeytrap involving his ex Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) on Monday.
Last week, fans of the BBC soap saw Elaine ask Cindy to help her test George’s loyalty to her by seducing him.
Elaine started to worry about his connection to his ex-wife, after a heart-to-heart with her late husband’s lover Drew made her determined not to be ‘second best’ again.
On Monday, Cindy put the plan into action as she arrived at Junior Knight’s (Micah Balfour) flat – where George was staying alone – armed with a bottle of wine.
It wasn’t long before the former couple took a trip down memory lane, recalling their life together in Marbella and their wedding day.
With things starting to get uncomfortable, George ordered Cindy to leave so she made one last attempt to lure him in, lurching at him for a kiss.
George immediately pushed her away as a wounded Cindy then sought to reclaim her power by revealing all about Elaine’s plan.
George initially refused to believe Cindy, who then noticed some missed calls from Elaine – who had tried to call off the plan after a last-minute change of heart – on her phone.
Seeking to prove her love rival’s deception, Cindy called her back and secretly put the phone on speaker so George could hear for himself.
George then headed back to The Vic to seek answers from his fiancée.
As she laid her heart out, George insisted that he loved Elaine but could no longer marry her.
Will George be talked round?
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
