Guilty Ruby reels in unexpected Emmerdale twist as Moira wants answers about Cain
Emmerdale’s Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) was left momentarily speechless, fearing the worst as Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) quizzed her on the subject of Cain (Jeff Hordley).
Ruby, as viewers know, had sex with Cain earlier this week in very unexpected scenes while Moira was undergoing her long-awaited brain surgery.
The scenes in question received quite a response from fans, who were devastated that Cain would betray his wife when she needed him more than ever.
Cain has struggled to come to terms with his actions and he’s not alone on that front, with Ruby wracked with guilt over sleeping with husband Caleb Milligan’s (William Ash) beloved brother.
Matters were complicated further when Caleb retrieved a box of morning after pills from the bin, believing they belonged to daughter Steph (Georgia Jay).
Ruby successfully threw him off the scent and urged him not to quiz their daughter on the topic but as soon as she plugged that hole another surfaced, with Caleb wanting her to accompany him to the hospital to see Moira.
Knowing that declining such a thing would only prompt questions, Ruby agreed but, as she and Caleb arrived at Hotten General, Cain struggled to play nice.
Moira, meanwhile, was pleasantly surprised to see Ruby, who she’s struck up quite the friendship with over the past few weeks, but things took quite a turn when Moira asked for some time alone with her new pal.
Ruby feared the worst and her worries were exacerbated further when Moira began to quiz her about Cain. Relief soon set in, however, when she realised that Moira was simply concerned about her beau and how he’s coping with her recovery.
Ruby answered her queries as best as she could bit upon exiting the hospital room she faced the wrath of Cain, who berated her for coming to visit. Ruby therefore made her excuses and got out of there as quick as she could, clearly struggling with the guilt of her actions.
Once home, she apologised to Steph for being a ‘terrible’ parent, begging for the chance to fix things.
Steph showed her the memory box that Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) had given her previously and Ruby fought tears as she looked at a picture of herself at 15 years old.
It’s clear that Anthony’s presence has stirred up some bad memories for Ruby and this, coupled with her passion with Cain, has left her in a bad way.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
