Huge step for blossoming couple as they confess love in Emmerdale
Watching Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) skirting around their feelings has been adorable, and at the same time incredibly awkward as Ella Forster (Paula Lane) sorrowfully questions what she did wrong in Emmerdale.
Liam and Chas as a thing has been a long time coming, with the pair enjoying a fling after realising there was a spark, but their romance was derailed by Liam discovering Chas had breast cancer.
After that, Chas put the breaks on their romance, so Liam ended up rebounding with Ella.
With Chas going through treatment and Liam going through a tricky time with Ella (learning she was a murderer and what not), things were temporarily not to be. But there was no denying that spark.
Liam finally dumped Ella for Chas and tried to sensitively explain that he was the problem, but Ella is not in a place to hear it. So now he and Chas are just waiting for things to die down before they shout to the world about their new relationship.
Things are getting serious fast between them, having ended up in bed together after Liam made Chas feel the safety she needed.
The trouble is, Ella’s had an inkling that his out-of-the-blue dumping might have been motivated by another woman, and this could be a problem.
She’s now moping around the village in post-heartbreak mode, and decides she has to leave. This would be a great move for all involved, except that Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) intercepts this plan.
Chas is feeling uber guilty when she overhears Manpreet and Ella discussing her living situation. Then Manpreet announces to Ella that she has an idea, then leaves everyone to wonder what it is.
While they all wait with bated breath, horny Liam can’t keep away from Chas. He sneaks to the back room, where he confesses that this isn’t just a fling, he’s actually in love with her. This got serious fast.
But the fall back down to Earth is a painful one when he learns that Ella is not, in fact, leaving the village and instead will be shacking up with Manpreet in Dale Head just down the road. Not at all ideal.
The guilt becomes too much for Chas who insists that with Ella sticking around, they need to put a pause on their romance. But in a shock move she reveals her feelings to him – she’s in love with him too.
This would be a lovely moment if Ella didn’t interrupt mid-heated conversation. Sensing something is amiss, will she twig?
Fans fear for Chas once Ella clocks on to the betrayal.
Her murderous past is already well known, but on the lower end of the scale she’s also not adverse to some casual violence – having turned on Wendy when she only slightly rattled her. So, when Ella finds out Chas stole her man, what could she be capable of?
