EastEnders’ Phil drops a nasty bombshell on Nicola leaving her with huge regrets
EastEnders’ Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) has a case of buyer’s remorse next week after purchasing troubled nightclub Peggy’s.
The Walford newcomer was unveiled as the new owner of the club after beating ex-husband Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) to the deal with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).
She was initially delighted to have got one over on Teddy and be able to put down roots in Albert Square.
However, forthcoming scenes see her realise the impact the crowd crush earlier this summer has had on the venue.
As fans will remember, there were traumatic scenes at Peggy’s back in September inadvertently caused by Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams), who tampered with the club’s online booking system in a bid to sabotage new manager Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) for stealing her job.
Many Walford residents were then seriously injured after the club became dangerously over capacity.
After Teddy learns Nicola is the new owner, he predicts it’ll all end in tears and warns he won’t pick up the pieces.
When Phil gives her the keys to the club next week, he drops the bombshell that there are no staff, and the crush has ruined the club’s reputation.
Nicola is left stunned to realise what she’s taken on.
She’s given hope, however, when Zack Hudson (James Fararr) arrives for work and suggests she hires Chelsea as bar manager, not realising she was responsible for the crush.
With only Chelsea’s family knowing the truth about her involvement, is she about to get her old job back?
