Major Emmerdale couple more ‘unbreakable’ than ever as they fight back against troublemaker ex
Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) are stronger than ever it seems, with the couple branding their bond ‘untouchable’ and even ‘unbreakable’.
The declarations come in the wake of the return of Ross Barton (Michael Parr), who has become hellbent on causing mayhem for the couple, having waged war against Mack in particular.
Ross staged his comeback last week when it was confirmed that he was getting involved in illegal fights, with Mack discovering that he’d allowed Moses to attend one of the violent brawls.
Horrified, the farmhand confronted fighter Ross, who made his presence felt by attacking Mack, telling him that he’s here to stay for the foreseeable.
Charity wasn’t pleased by her ex’s return but she was willing to give him a chance to prove himself, setting him up with a job at Butlers and even managed to convince Cain to put a roof over his head.
Ross, however, continued to cause trouble, with one incident in particular seeing him put Moses’ life in danger as he wielded a shotgun around the barn, firing a warning shot to stave off intruders.
Charity urged Ross to buck up his ideas and be a proper dad to Moses but Ross responded by leaning in for a kiss! Charity was quick to put him in his place but Ross persisted, claiming that there is chemistry between them.
Fearing that he might retaliate against Ross, Charity refrained from telling Mack about the near-kiss but Ross couldn’t resist the opportunity to wind him up, implying that there were ‘fireworks’ between him and his ex.
Mack returned home to Jacob’s Fold where he hoped Charity would fill him on what Ross was referring to. Charity ultimately did just that, revealing that Ross attempted to kiss her on the previous day.
Mack was seething, reiterating that Ross was disrespecting her and disrespecting him with his outrageous behaviour, stating that he wanted to kill him.
But ultimately, Mack took his wife’s advice and left well enough alone, returning home to Charity, who reiterated that they were as solid as ever. ‘We are untouchable’, she said -a sentiment that Mack agreed with, declaring their bond ‘unbreakable’ as they kissed.
Charity was adamant that she would send Ross packing if he continues to be a bother but Mack refused, reiterating that he would never stop a father from seeing his son, evidently still hurting after Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) refused to let him be a part of Reuben’s life.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
