Violent Tommy removed from Kat in EastEnders – but someone else is kicked out too

Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) was feeling overwhelmed in tonight’s episode of EastEnders as she was paid a visit by a social worker and a detective.

Yesterday, Jean (Gillian Wright) reported Kat’s violent son Tommy (Sonny Kendall) to social services. The decision came after she discovered Tommy had burnt Freddie’s (Bobby Brazier) arm, and that the teenager had been hitting his twin brothers Bert and Ernie.

The detective and social worker arrived just before the school run and revealed to Kat that they needed to speak to the entire family. At first, Kat defended Tommy and said his behaviour was as a result of growing up.

The social worker was understanding and listened to Kat, but also confirmed they had seen the bruises on Bert and Ernie, and knew they were more than just play-fighting with their brother.

Kat and Alfie (Shane Richie) were told that Tommy needed to live elsewhere in order to ensure the twins were safe. The social worker suggested a family member takes Tommy in, so Kat rushed out and headed to the Slaters.

Unfortunately, while Kat and Alfie were having the meeting, Jean was already updating Stacey (Lacey Turner) on Tommy’s violence and calling the social. It meant that when Kat asked for help, they immediately said no in case Tommy put someone else in danger.

With Phil (Steve McFadden) out and Bianca (Patsy Palmer) unable to look after Tommy because of Sonia’s (Natalie Cassidy) imprisonment, Kat was running out of options.

Fortunately, living next door to Kat and Alfie is Zack Hudson (James Farrar), a registered foster carer.

He arrived at the Moons and said he can help. Tommy moved in with Zack, but was told he couldn’t return home until the social are convinced he no longer poses a threat to anyone.

Despite only living next door, Kat felt a great deal of loss as she watched Tommy move homes. Lashing out, she accused Alfie of calling the social and told him to ‘clear off’ as well.

Earlier in the day, Alfie paid a visit to Jean and discovered she had reported Tommy. They both decided to keep the information a secret from Kat, which now means Alfie’s relationship with her is going to be seriously impacted.

Will Jean confess the truth if her guilt continues?
