EastEnders star Shane Richie reveals three devastating teases for Christmas in Walford
EastEnders actor Shane Richie has teased soap fans that there could be some tragedy in store for Alfie Moon and the rest of the Watford residents.
Actor Shane Richie has revealed there are some ‘tragic and sad’ events lined up for the EastEnders Christmas storylines.
The soap actor, who has been in EastEnders on and off since 2002, explained that the BBC cast are currently coming to the end of their Christmas filming and the storylines are set to stun viewers.
He revealed that he ‘intentionally’ didn’t read the script, and has been left in shock as he filmed scenes that will air in the Christmas Day special.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Shane explained: “I sat there watching this story unfolding in the Queen Vic that happens on Christmas Day, and as a fan of the show anyway, I was like, ‘Oh my God I can’t believe this! Stop!'”
He continued: “I had to do a line and I kept messing it up because I was so taken in with that the storyline that was happening.”
As he added that viewers are “in for a treat” on Christmas Day, he teased that the new storylines will leave BBC viewers in shock.
Whilst he couldn’t spill the beans on exactly what will go down on December 25, he did sum up the events with four simple words: “Deceit, tragic and sad.”
In the past Christmas Day storylines have been huge, with last year’s featuring The Six and the death of Keanu Taylor at the hands of Linda Carter surrounding by other females from the Square.
The Christmas episodes come after a tough and rocky time for Alfie and ex wife Kat Slater, as they continue their battle with son Tommy over his abusive and violent outbursts.
Viewers have seen the abuse unfold for months as the child-to-parent abuse storyline has been escalating, with Kat making a heartbreaking confession to Alfie as he spots her bruises from Tommy’s attacks.
In previous episodes, viewers were left shocked as teenager Tommy punched Kat in the stomach, and has also been misbehaving with skipping school and shoplifting from the Mini Mart.
Away from the Christmas storylines, it looks like New Year could also be a pivotal moment for Albert Square as EastEnders director Christopher McGill hinted at an intense storyline set on a train.
On X, he leaked some photos of a camera and set that looks like a train station from recent filming.
Whilst the New Year storyline is still firmly under wraps, it could hint to some gripping storylines for December and January.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
