EastEnders Christmas revealed: Affair showdown, Denise twist and ‘past characters return’
EastEnders is lining up some big things for Christmas and Christmas Day on the BBC soap according to some new spoilers, while there's still more to be revealed
It might not be as dark this Christmas on EastEnders as last year, but there is set to be some huge twists.
There’s hints at what’s to come on the BBC soap while official spoilers and full details are yet to be confirmed. There seems to be plenty of elements of the past this festive period and on Christmas Day, quite literally.
Not only will there seemingly be familiar faces from the past leading to some big returns, but there’s also set to be a classic affair reveal. There’s also hints something big is coming for Denise Fox, amid other rumours about the soap’s big storylines.
Viewers may think they’ve stepped back in time with one plot, as there’s some definite echoing of past Christmas episodes that will provide drama and nostalgia! It comes after theory after theory from fans that the show was planning a Christmas Carol style twist, amid a funeral being filmed. While nothing is known just yet, it’s teased some ghosts from the past will haunt Walford.
Could fans have guessed it right weeks ago, with a Dickensian style twist planned for Linda Carter? Fans had guessed this would happen as it seemed to be her funeral being filmed, and her children Nancy and Lee Carter, who aren’t in Walford anymore, were at the scene.

Perhaps it’s Phil Mitchell facing the ghosts amid reports he will be left lonely and depressed in emotional scenes ahead. It’s also not specified if the “ghosts” will be familiar faces who are alive, or literal dead characters.
Elsewhere, in scenes that could well rival 2007 at the Branning house there’s an explosive affair reveal set to crash in like a “wrecking ball”. Viewers had questioned if this was on the cards ever since Freddie Slater unknowingly recorded Cindy Beale’s confession about her affair with Junior Knight, in a chat with David Wicks.
This tape will be played out on Christmas Day, just like DVD-gate with Max and Stacey all those years ago, with chaos set to unfold between the Beales and the Knights in the fallout. With a showdown on the cards and all kinds of accusations, it could be a dark Christmas for some.
Finally the other big Christmas hint is about Denise Fox, a year on from her attacking Nish Panesar and being involved in Keanu Taylor’s murder. It’s teased things will be different this year for her amid a spark with Ravi Gulati, after her split from Jack Branning.
All that’s been revealed is she will find an unexpected present from someone she isn’t expecting. So who will it be and what does this mean for Denise?
