ITV Emmerdale sparks uproar as furious fans slam ‘disappointing’ Cain twist

Viewers were left fuming at Emmerdale on Wednesday night, as a devastating twist aired that no one saw coming.

As Moira Dingle prepared for brain surgery, her husband Cain Dingle went off the rails. After attacking someone and being shown drinking heavily, the worst was yet to come.

As Moira underwent surgery for her brain tumour, we saw Cain leave the hospital and act out. But soon he was confronted by his sister-in-law Ruby Miligan who was also drinking.

She was upset after her run-in with her estranged father Anthony Fox the day before. As the pair lashed out at each other, fury shockingly turned into passion.

The pair were shown kissing before it emerged they had slept together. Cain cheated on his poorly wife Moira as she was undergoing major surgery, amid his fears she would die.

He also betrayed his brother Caleb Miligan who had been a shoulder to cry throughout the day, with Cain sleeping with his wife Ruby. Both were utterly horrified by what they had done, vowing never to mention it and to pretend nothing happened.

They weren’t the only ones shocked and horrified though, with viewers raging at show bosses. The twist sparked quite the uproar, with fans taking to X to share their thoughts, calling the plot “unnecessary”.

One viewer said on X: “Totally unnecessary and disappointing twist.” Another fan commented: “I am fuming!!!!” as a third veiwer posted: “I have no words.”

The comments kept on coming too with one post reading: “That twist at the end though wasn’t needed – didn’t see that coming at all.” A further comment read: “I am genuinely so mad about tonight’s #emmerdale So unnecessary and unrealistic. Why have they had to do this in what was such a beautiful episode.”

Another fan said: “I just heard what happens in tonight’s emmerdale and I’ve gone from being so excited to watch to the writers can genuinely go and F themselves what the actual f**k???” There were very few tweets of fans saying they liked the storyline with fans now fearing Cain and wife Moira will split.

It’s not yet known if the truth will come out but it normally does in soap land. So how will Moira and Caleb react when they uncover the betrayal by Ruby and Cain, and will it be game over for both marriages? Viewers will have to wait and see how the plot unfolds.
