EastEnders confirms major and unexpected Linda twist – as she reacts very badly
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of EastEnders that hasn’t aired on BBC One yet, but is available to view on BBC iPlayer.
Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) has been dealt even more shocking news in EastEnders as she learnt the mysterious drag queen who visited the pub is actually connected to her past.
Drew Peacock was thrown out of the Queen Vic by Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) as soon as they laid eyes on each other. Understandably, this left Linda and Johnny (Charlie Suff) curious.
In tonight’s episode of the BBC One soap, Linda found Drew in the laundrette.
She was taken aback when he mentioned knowing Linda when she was a child, and said if she wants some answers, she should ask Elaine.
So that’s exactly what she did.
Upstairs in the pub, Elaine confirmed that when Linda was younger, her dad John had an affair. At first, Linda thought that Drew knew the woman that her dad was sleeping with, and then Johnny and Elaine confirmed the old face ‘was the other woman’.
Linda was completely horrified by the revelation. She refused to accept that her dad was gay because he was ‘such a man’.
With a drink in her hand, Linda couldn’t understand why her beloved father didn’t tell anyone – but specifically her – about his feelings. Ultimately, Elaine kept the secret because she loved her partner, but ‘hated the situation’ she was in.
Elaine then said to Johnny and Linda that she thinks the ‘guilt and shame’ of keeping his secret led to John having a heart attack.
Completely stunned, an angry and hurt Linda told her mum that her dad died because he was married to a ‘selfish old slag like you’.
Elaine slapped Linda across the face and she ran away. While she cried on her bed with a picture of Mick in her arms, Elaine and Johnny headed outside for a walk.
Just as they got to The Albert, Elaine and Johnny spotted Drew on the balcony enjoying a drink. He raised the glass and smiled at them both, prompting Elaine to head inside.
If Elaine and Drew have a conversation about the past, just how will it play out?
And what will Linda do next as she attempts to come to terms with a massive change to her childhood?
