Jean’s future in jeopardy in EastEnders as she takes a big financial risk
Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) takes a massive gamble with her future in EastEnders next week.
The beloved character recently had a windfall after she was told she’d had a pension pot she’d long forgotten about.
Admitting the £12k was more money than she’d ever had in her life, Jean was determined to be sensible with the cash.
Considering how best to invest her money, she discussed with partner Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) about the option to invest in a tea farm in Australia to grow the money.
In scenes to air next week, Jean takes a call from an investment company and talks to the advisor about making more of her money.
She’s intrigued by what they offer and takes time to mull over the tempting prospect.
But is the offer too good to be true, or will the financial risk pay off?
News of her windfall came off the back of a tumultuous few months for Jean, who broke up with Harvey after finding out he’d been hiding that he was giving money to Maya Houssain (Bharti Patel) as a way of trying to make up for his son Aaron Monroe (Charlie Wernham) beating up her husband in a racist attack in 2021.
While they later reunited, Jean is currently in the dark about the fact Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) kissed Harvey last month.
Jean has also been embroiled in a bitter feud with relative Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) over Kat’s abusive son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall).
There were fireworks when Kat learned that Jean had called social services about the violent teen, worried about the impact on Kat and Alfie Moon’s (Shane Richie) twin boys Bert and Ernie.
EastEnders airs these new scenes from Wednesday 20 November at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
