Emmerdale’s Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) was left upset after husband Jimmy (Nick Miles) reiterated that he won’t be kicking Tom (James Chase) out, despite his family’s desire to move back home.

Jimmy, as viewers know, is intent on standing by Tom, who is being investigated for domestic abuse after wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) reported him to the police.

Nicola believed Tom at first but she soon realised that her own son Carl Holliday (Charlie Joyce) was scared of the vet and, after some digging, discovered that Tom had terrorised the little boy in an effort to cover his own tracks.

When confronted on the matter, Tom lied through his teeth, with Jimmy ultimately believing his twisted version of events.

Nicola, however, saw Tom for who he truly is and, unwilling to put her kids in harms way, she moved out of Victoria Cottage and into Mulberry with Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy).

But Nicola came to realise that she needed Jimmy’s help when Angelica (Rebecca Bakes), who was released from a secure children’s home, opened up and reveals that she thinks she’s evil.

Nicola headed home to Victoria Cottage, where Jimmy wrapped his arms around her, consoling her as she explained the situation and, in a bid to offer assistance, he accompanied his wife back to Mulberry, hoping to have a heart-to-heart with Angel.

Angel was pleased to see her dad, though was fully aware that his presence was an intervention of sorts.

The teen was also confused about how Jimmy and Nicola could deal with anything given that they’re currently residing in separate houses and, as Jimmy attempted to come up with a solution, he got his daughter’s hopes up, implying that they’ll be moving back home.

Nicola was also intrigued by his comments, asking him if he’s had a ‘change of heart’ where Tom is concerned. Jimmy, however, backtracked, reminding Nico that Tom is also his family, which started a row between the two.

Fed up of her parents arguing again, Angelica claimed she had homework to do as she vacated the living room.

Will Jimmy see the truth about Tom and realise that his family need him more than ever? Or will he continue to bury his head in the sand with the belief that Tom is a good person?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
