EastEnders confirms new owner of Peggy’s in unexpected twist – and Sharon is seething
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of EastEnders that hasn’t aired on BBC One yet, but is available to view on BBC iPlayer.
Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) have been left fuming after newcomer Nicola (Laura Doddington) was confirmed as the new owner of Peggy’s in EastEnders.
Following the crowd crush a few months ago, Phil (Steve McFadden) decided to sell the establishment. The prospect of running a new business interested Teddy a great deal, but his offer was quashed due to the arrival of his ex-wife.
Nicola is the mother of Harry (Elijah Holloway) and Barney (Lewis Bridgeman). During the few days she’s been in Walford she’s wound Teddy up a great deal and also revealed herself to be an ex of Zack Hudson (James Farrar).
Not over that yet, btw.
In tonight’s episode, Nicola invited herself along to lunch with Teddy, Honey (Emma Barton) and Billy (Perry Fenwick). Prior to meeting Honey, Nicola had no idea Teddy had a sibling and jumped at the chance of sticking her nose in.
Sitting down in Walford East, Nicola tried to play happy families but Teddy was terribly uncomfortable. He has reminded her time and time again that their marriage has ended, but she failed to really get the message.
As they returned home, Nicola shouted at Teddy for telling Billy and Honey that she was inside for ABH. Wanting to stick around in Albert Square for her sons but to also annoy Teddy more, Nicola then made her way to find Phil after hearing his name mentioned in a phone call.
When Teddy arrived at Peggy’s, he was taken aback to find Nicola speaking to Phil. It was then confirmed she had made him a better offer over the sale, making her the new owner.
Teddy and Sharon – who has shown a romantic interest in him previously – were fuming.
So, Nicola is sticking around. What trouble will she cause next?
‘Nicola is a woman who knows her mind and isn’t intimidated by anyone or anything,’ says actress Laura Doddington, who plays her. ‘She’s looking to see if she can turn any situation to her advantage.’
