Popular ITV duo ‘call it quits’ after unexpected falling out: ‘You’re no-one to me!’
Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) was left sobbing in Emmerdale after son Vinny (Bradley Johnson) disowned her in the wake of finding out a major secret, telling her that she’s ‘no-one’ to him.
Vinny, as viewers know, was adopted by Mandy when he was a little boy. What wasn’t known until just a few weeks ago is that his biological mother is none other than scheming Tina Dingle (Samantha Power).
It turns out that Tina left Vinny when he was a baby, with Mandy stepping in to look after him. Tina subsequently returned, claiming she wanted Vinny back but Mandy paid her off in order to keep her beloved Vinny in her care.
Tina’s unexpected comeback last month has left Mandy seriously worried that her secret will out, so much so that she’s allowed the schemer to blackmail her into handing over Zak’s (Steve Halliwell) will.
Paddy (Dominic Brunt) got wind of what Mandy was going through on Friday and insisted that she come clean, urging her to tell Vinny herself as it would remove the hold that Tina has on her.
It seemed at the time that Mandy was intent on doing just that but instead she decided to try and reclaim the upper hand by driving Tina’s caravan out of the village, ordering her nemesis to stay away.
The plan, however, backfired.
Tina returned to Wishing Well and spilled the beans to a heartbroken Vinny, who couldn’t believe that Mandy had paid for him when he was a baby.
Mandy did her best to explain the situation but Tina getting there first scuppered such a thing, with the returnee painting a twisted version of events that made it seem like Mandy had taken advantage of her when she was at a low point.
It was unclear as to whether or not Vinny believed her tale but nonetheless he was fuming with Mandy for lying to him and subsequently disowned her, telling her that she isn’t his mum – and that she’s ‘nothing’ to him.
Bit harsh, Vinny!
Mandy broke down in tears. But it wasn’t just Vinny that was seething, with Sam (James Hooton) horrified that Mandy had stolen Zak’s will in order to keep her secret.
Will she be able to make things right with her loved ones? Or will Tina succeed in causing chaos and getting her hands on the cash that she wants?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
