Emmerdale reveals the truth about Tom King’s brutal assault – and it wasn’t Sam Dingle

The Emmerdale villain was left battered and bleeding but it wasn't a revenge attack by the Dingles

EMMERDALE has revealed the truth about Tom King’s brutal assault – and it wasn’t Sam Dingle.

The ITV soap teased in spoilers how abuser Tom was going to be found bleeding after being attacked in the village – and in today’s episode that played out.

But not everything was as it seems.

At the beginning of the episode Jimmy was unable to get through to Nicola, who was still ignoring him, and Tom’s presence in the cottage wound him up.

He ended up telling Tom to make himself scarce for the day with Tom realising Jimmy was beginning to see through his poor little me act.

Later he was found by Laurel at the church, bleeding, and he claimed he’d been attacked.

She took him home and he insisted he couldn’t report the attack to the police, claiming it was the Dingles.

His lies worked and Jimmy promised to back him to the hilt – higher if necessary – and he got him to agree not to report Sam’s attack.

However by the end of the episode the truth emerged as Tom met up with his solicitor pal.

“I’ve got a splinter from whacking you with that branch,” his friend said.

Tom replied: “I wish mine was just a splinter, but it was worth it.”

His pal told him: “There have got to be easier ways to get sympathy.”

“Well smashing up my car only worked a bit, and the hate messages weren’t going to cut it…” said Tom.

His solicitor then told him that it was becoming too crazy and that he wouldn’t represent him any more – but Tom wasn’t going to let that happen.

He told him: “I really don’t want to have to start again with another solicitor so let’s just carry on.

“You’ve got my back and I’ve got yours. I won’t have to say anything because you are going to do your job and make sure that I’m not charged.

“And one more thing – I’m thinking we need to come up with a back up plan in case things get worse.

“I can’t go to prison so we need to do whatever it takes – legal or not.”
