ITV Emmerdale character ‘goes missing’ amid killer’s explosive return
Angelica King returned to Emmerdale this Friday after an eight-month sentence at a secure children's facility. But upon her comeback, one character was noticed to have vanished.
Nicola King was over the moon to see her daughter Angelica being released but one character has yet to encounter her in the Dales.
The teenager portrayed by actress Rebecca Bakes was sent to a secure children’s facility earlier this year, after admitting she was driving Wendy Posner’s stolen car on new Year’s Eve, when she and pals Cathy and Heath had an accident, resulting in the lad’s tragic death.
Angelica’s parents, Nicola and Jimmy (respectively played by Nicola Wheeler and Nick Miles) were keen to hear she would soon be released this week and “Angel” finally returned to Emmerdale this Friday, November 1, with her father driving her back to a tumultuous home, due to Tom King’s (James Chase) presence at Victoria Cottage.
Upon her return, Angelica was reminded of her actions by bumping into Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) who clearly needed some time before being ready to welcome her back into the eponymous village. But Bob’s presence underlined an important question – where is his daughter Cathy?
Before her pal Angelica was sent away, Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) had been blamed for her twin brother’s death but once Angelica admitted she was driving, all charges against Cathy had been drop, allowing her to move on. However, she has since been rarely seen on our screens.
While no word about a potential exit for actress Gabrielle Dowling has been shared by Emmerdale bosses, she wouldn’t be the first star to disappear from the soap for off-screen obligations.
Earlier on in the year, Arthur Thomas actor Alfie Clarke had also been missing out on all the drama and many viewers wondered if he had made a discreet exit from the soap. It was later clear that Alfie, 16, had taken some time off from the show to focus on his GCSEs. Over on Instagram, Gabrielle has not posted since May 27, 2024, suggesting she could be focused on other projects.
But as Cathy remains on the side-lines, Amelia Spencer star Daisy Campbell recently confirmed she would soon be leaving Emmerdale after 13 years. Speaking exclusively with the Mirror to announce the news, Daisy, 21, says: “It wasn’t my choice to leave Emmerdale and it was a shock at first. Being in Emmerdale is all I have ever known. I’ve spent the whole of my childhood growing up in the soap and it felt daunting.”
Her character Amelia is currently in a relationship with evil Tom King – oblivious to his abuse of Belle Dingle – and is a mum to Esther, now two, after her shock pregnancy with Samson Dingle in 2022. But after Amelia’s onscreen parents left the Dales, bosses told Daisy they had run out of storylines for her.
“Once they explained, I totally got it”, she said, “Amelia isn’t part of the Dingles, her dad has left, Samson has gone now and she doesn’t have any family. There is nowhere to take Amelia and I understand that. I feel incredibly lucky to have been in the soap for 13 years and to have been handed so many opportunities at such a young age.” But how will her exit play out?
