EastEnders New Year train crash stunt ‘rumbled’ by fans ahead of ‘shocking scenes’

After an EastEnders director dropped major hints of a stunt looming during filming for the New Year episodes, fans have put the clues together and 'rumbled' what happens

EastEnders could be lining up catastrophic scenes this New Year, with hints of a deadly stunt.

One TV director currently filming with the show has been teasing what’s ahead, with backstage snaps from filming. While we do not know who is involved cast wise, the BBC soap has been filming something huge for two weeks now.

Pictures from the location as well as hashtags teasing the plot have sent fans into meltdown on X, and now the clues have led to fans thinking they know the truth. TV director and EastEnders favourite Christopher McGill has been giving glimpses to what the team have filmed so far, calling it a “monster of a block”.

Hints, no doubt teasing viewers and throwing them off the scent, have included mentions of planes, trains and piers. Some of the imagery has shown random objects and possibly old-fashioned items, while there was also a boarded platform or pier, and the Walford East tube station.

Outside of the tube station is a poster that reads “slow down”, and a car, while he also shared a video of the market street panning up to the railway bridge. So could this be teasing a car crashes into the station, possibly, somehow, causing a deadly crash?

Viewers are now convinced it’s all train orientated and that the railway track that runs over the Square could be involved. Might a train plummet from the bridge onto the market, given one of the images showed the inside of the launderette which happens to be right by this very bridge?

As fans questioned him about the stunt, with one writing: “I hope you didn’t cross the dressed set line Chris!!!!”, Christopher replied: “Crossing all the lines. Railway lines too!!!”

This only increased speculation that a train crash was on the way, with one fan posting on X: “Train?!” Another said: “Oh yes…. that big train crash that Clenshaw promised. It’s going to be big.”

A third fan added: “A plane crashes into a train maybe?? As you said train yesterday.. hmmmmmmmm.” A further comment read: “I think Teddy gets killed on a train which causes the crash since Ravi said he’s gonna kill Teddy, and they have to get on a train to go back to where they are from. Or if anything Barney gets on the train to see he’s mom and something happens to Barney.”

There was also a scene of Barney being dangled off this very bridge this week by Ravi Gulati, with someone warning a train could be coming. Fans wondered if this was foreshadowing a train crashing into Walford.

It comes after Zack Hudson actor James Farrar told The Mirror something “shocking” and “unbelievable” was coming this New Year. While he managed to stop himself from spilling specific details on what happens and who is involved, he promised the episodes would be “unbelievable” and hinted they would be shocking too, as he repeatedly gasped.

He told us on what’s ahead: “What’s exciting is I look forward to Christmas Day regardless of being on the show or not. We get two Christmas Days. Oh! And New Year… New Year! I’m not saying anything… I will not say.

“I I know who is involved. It is unbelievable… as in unbelievable! We’ve got Christmas, New Year and the 40th. It’s a big, big month for our show and I am so proud of us, and proud of Chris [Clenshaw] for everything he’s done. He’s left us in a very good state.”
