Emmerdale spoilers follow for Thursday’s (October 24) episode that is now available to view on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 7:30pm.

Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) was left reeling when Tom King (James Chase) made it clear that he was going to take legal action against the veterinary practice.

Tom, as viewers know, was suspended from his job at the surgery in question following his treatment of wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper), who he had been abusing for months.

Belle confided in her loved ones about what she went through at her husband’s hands, with word soon spreading around the village – and Rhona and Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) decided to take action.

Tom has played the victim for weeks and, following Belle’s arrest for breaching her bail conditions, he believed that this would work in his favour, asking Rhona if he will get his job back if he’s found not guilty.

Rhona, however, told Tom that – regardless of the verdict – he should start looking for other work as it’s unlikely that he’ll be invited back to work at the surgery.

Tom was seething.

Belle, meanwhile, notified her mental health team after she started hearing voices again, admitting herself to a secure unit to get help.

Upon learning such information, Tom confronted Rhona once more, believing that this is proof that Belle wasn’t of sound mind when she accused him of abuse.

‘Maybe people should have believed me after all’, he said. ‘By the way, you can’t just sack me for no reason.

‘You said that I should start looking for other work which means you had no intention of letting me back once I was proven innocent. So I’m sorry but I’m afraid I’m going to have to sue for unfair dismissal.’

Rhona was left in shock.

Will Tom’s reign of terror claim yet another victim in Rhona and her beloved business? Or will justice prevail and Tom get what’s coming to him before such a thing ever comes to pass?

Subsequent scenes saw the abuser speaking to his lawyer, seeking legal advice over the job situation, but will he pursue?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
