EastEnders fans ‘work out’ who killed Harry Mitchell’s girlfriend Shireen – and it’s not him
Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) got quite the shock in EastEnders earlier this week when Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) informed her that Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) had killed his girlfriend Shireen.
Jack explained how the pair had been seen arguing before Shireen disappeared, and the police were certain that Harry had killed her.
However, when Penny confronted Harry, he insisted that he was innocent, despite nobody except dad Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) believing him.
Now, one fan has come up with a theory about what really happened, using clues from the episode itself.
‘It was Nicola, and Teddy agreed to cover it up,’ they theorised.
Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) is Teddy’s ex-wife, and Harry and Barney Mitchell’s (Lewis Bridgeman) mother, and she is soon set to arrive on Albert Square.
The fan continued: ‘There were two pieces of dialogue in today’s episode (22nd Oct) that gave it away.
‘Firstly, in the scene where Harry and Penny were talking in the garage, Harry told Penny that the police thought he killed Shireen but nobody believed him “apart from his dad”. That meant that even people like Barney had doubts. But why would Teddy be so certain Harry didn’t do it? Because he knows who did do it.
‘Secondly, in the scene where Barney and Teddy were talking about the Avani situation, Teddy said something like “why did you let Ravi off the hook and not tell the police? Did you think Avani would come running into your arms? Because I’m telling you, it doesn’t always work out like that.”
‘I think this is implying that Teddy has been in a similar situation to Barney before, where he thinks keeping a secret from the police will bring the woman he loves into his arms.
