EastEnders fans slam huge flaw in major storyline – and they have a point
EastEnders fans have noticed quite a large flaw in a huge storyline, and we can’t help but agree with them.
This week, Denise (Diane Parish) and Jack (Scott Maslen) have wondered what to do about Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) after she confessed her role in the club crush, which occurred in August.
Yesterday, a guilty Chelsea was planning on going to the police station to hand herself in, but told Denise and Jack she wanted to stop at the hospital first.
There, Chelsea discovered one of the victims from the crush was now out of his coma.
Getting back in the car, Chelsea updated Jack and her mum, and the trio realised the update on the young lad had the potential to change the severity of Chelsea’s sentencing.
An idea forming, Jack took the duo back home and called a family meeting. There, in front of Amy (Ellie Dadd), Penny (Kitty Castledine), Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and Ricky (Frankie Day), Jack told them that if Chelsea goes to the police she could face a heavier consequence than Penny.
He then told everyone they would vote in terms of who to save. Eventually, Jack had the final call, and he chose Chelsea over his own daughter.
While Penny was horrified, fans couldn’t help point out the hypocrisy of the situation.
Noting Penny’s returning storyline at the start of the year, which involved planting drugs, this user of X said: ‘Not really sure how penny can take the high ground when she planted drugs on her cousin and let her get arrested instead.’
But Penny isn’t the only one who doesn’t really have the right to talk about moral high ground.
This post, also echoed on forum platform Reddit, points out that most people involved in the storyline have a criminal history.
The fan highlighted that Jack has a history of being a bent copper and was actually responsible for putting Penny in a wheelchair, while Denise has spent nearly a year trying to cover up a murder.
