BBC EastEnders Ruby Allen star Louisa Lytton lets slip ‘dramatic’ return twist

EXCLUSIVE: Louisa Lytton has already returned to EastEnders as Ruby Allen and has given fans some hints about what to expect when the character heads back to Albert Square

EastEnders fans are buzzing with anticipation as Louisa Lytton set to make a dramatic comeback as Ruby Allen later this year.

Viewers last caught a glimpse of Ruby leaving Walford in September 2021 amid controversial circumstances. Claiming to be expecting Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) baby, Ruby faced scepticism from Martin after a web of deceit led to Stacey Slater’s (Lacey Turner) wrongful incarceration.

Although Martin remained convinced that Ruby’s pregnancy was just another lie, audiences were let in on the truth when Ruby’s positive pregnancy test came to light as she was carted off in a police car for a crime orchestrated against her by Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).

Speaking about her EastEnders re-entrance at the National TV Awards last month, Louisa dropped hints about what viewers should brace for, mentioning: “We’re going to be seeing where she’s been for the past three years. In ‘true’ EastEnders form, there’s lots of drama but it’s good to be back.”

Filming is already underway for Louisa’s scenes, which will be broadcasted later in the year. Ruby first stepped into the EastEnders realm in 2005 as the offspring of notorious kingpin Johnny Allen (Billy Murray), and Louisa has expressed her desire to witness her character’s father make a sensational return, despite his previous departure from the show, reports the Manchester Evening News.

EastEnders chiefs have confirmed that a host of legendary characters will be making a comeback over the coming months to celebrate the soap’s 40th anniversary in February 2025, with Louisa expressing her desire to see Johnny Allen return.

David Wicks (played by Michael French), Bianca Jackson (portrayed by Patsy Palmer) and Chrissie Watts (acted by Tracy Ann Oberman) are among the big names who’ve made a comeback in recent weeks. Executive producer Chris Clenshaw has also hinted at the possibility of more familiar faces returning to Walford.
