EastEnders fans have been left fearing the worst for one Albert Square legend after spotting a major detail in funeral pictures - but others are convinced there's a twist
EastEnders fans are abuzz with speculation that a key character might meet their end this festive season, and they’re none too pleased about the prospect. The BBC One soap’s loyal audience has been fervently exchanging theories on social media after pictures surfaced showing the Carter family filming a funeral service, but one beloved face from Albert Square was notably absent.
Snapped by The Sun, the images depict a white coffin being carried into a church while the crowd of mourners looks on. Spotted among the attendees were Lee, Johnny and Nancy Carter and Callum Highway.
Yet, Linda Carter, portrayed by Kellie Bright, was nowhere to be seen, sparking whispers among viewers that it could be her in the casket. “Nancy in her flamingo earrings…em this is not looking good. I will not cope if it’s Linda dying at Xmas # EastEnders,” posted a distressed fan online.
Still, some fans hold a glimmer of hope regarding Linda’s fate. “This funeral stuff seems way too staged as ‘linda’s funeral’. they kept all the six stuff a complete secret and I don’t think they’d expose the death of one of the biggest characters of the last decade like this, so keep the faith! ! #eastenders,” a hopeful viewer remarked.
Fans have their theories buzzing on social media with one saying: “OK OK HEAR ME OUT. SURELY IF IT WAS LINDA THE COFFIN WOULD BE PINK… RIGHT? ? #EastEnders”. Amid the drama of an impending funeral, the EastEnders crew were also caught up in more joyous events, as the wedding of Elaine Peacock and George Knight was captured on camera during filming.
The pictures revealed Harriet Thorpe looking utterly dazzling in a glittering gold bridal dress, befitting her flamboyant Queen Vic landlady alter ego who wouldn’t settle for a subdued look. Colin Salmon was snapped donning a smart, sand-hued suit, and among the other attendees for the splendid affair was Jamie Borthwick, also known as Jay Brown.
Borthwick is juggling his role on the Square with his stint on Strictly Come Dancing, where he’s paired with dance pro Michelle Tsiakkas.
