EastEnders legend was asked about a return ‘600,000,000 times a day’
EastEnders star Louisa Lytton is set to reprise her role later in the year – which means fans can stop asking her one key question.
Actress Louisa, 35, played Ruby Allen for a year between 2005 and 2006, before reprising her role in 2018 until 2021.
Earlier in the year, she shared how often she was asked by fans if she had plans to return – and it was a lot.
While hosting a Q&A on her Instagram Stories, Louisa revealed that she would be asked about an EastEnders return ‘600,000,000 times a day’.
During her time in Albert Square, character Ruby was part of some hard-hitting storylines.
The daughter of notorious gangster Johnny Allen, Ruby instantly befriended Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), though in later years their friendship would dissolve completely after Ruby began dating Martin Fowler (James Bye).
The pair soon became embroiled in a bitter feud, with Ruby arranging for Stacey to be attacked.
During an altercation, Ruby, who had suffered a miscarriage several days before, fell down the stairs. However, she accused Stacey of pushing her and cited this as the cause of her miscarriage – resulting in Stacey being sent to prison.
After the truth was exposed, Martin refused to believe that she was pregnant again, and Ruby ended up going to prison.
Also during her tenure, Ruby was at the centre of a powerful episode that focused on the topic of consent, amid a storyline that saw her come to the realisation that she had been raped by two of Martin’s school friends.
It was announced last month that she will once again be heading to Albert Square.
Louisa said: ‘I am thrilled to have been asked back to the Square to revisit Ruby once more, and to shed some light on what the past three years have been like for her during her time away from Walford.
‘I’ve always loved playing Ruby as there is never a dull moment and I cannot wait for everyone to see what Ruby has in store.’
A few weeks later, Tracy-Ann Oberman reprised her role as iconic murderer Chrissie Watts for a one week stint.
Whilst in prison with her former step-daughter Sharon (Letitia Dean), she revealed that had briefly shared a cell with Ruby.
Sharon was then stunned when Chrissie unknowingly revealed she’d had Martin’s baby, telling of how Ruby had been moved after giving birth.
