EastEnders fans will be thrilled to know that they don’t have to wait as long for the next instalment of the BBC soap, thanks to a blunder by presenter Laura Kuenssberg.

An interview with former Prime Minister Boris Johnson was due to air in EastEnders’ regular slot this evening, with the soap set to air tomorrow instead.

However, it was announced yesterday that the interview was being taken off air after a mistake made by Laura.

‘While prepping to interview Boris Johnson tomorrow, by mistake I sent our briefing notes to him in a message meant for my team,’ she posted on Twitter/X.

A handout image released by 10 Downing Street, shows Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson speaking during a remote press conference to update the nation on the COVID-19 pandemic, inside 10 Downing Street in central London on April 30, 2020.

‘That obviously means it’s not right for the interview to go ahead. It’s very frustrating, and there’s no point pretending it’s anything other than embarrassing and disappointing, as there are plenty of important questions to be asked.

‘But red faces aside, honesty is the best policy. See you on Sunday.’

The news came as a big shock to those anticipating the interview, which was set to see Boris Johnson questioned on Partygate and his Conservative government’s response to Covid.

However, EastEnders fans were keen to know if this would mean another change in schedules for their favourite London-based soap.

Metro can confirm that EastEnders is set to return to its original slot tonight at 7.30pm, with an episode of Garden Rescue set to replace it tomorrow.

It has been a busy week on the BBC soap, with Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and Junior Knight’s (Micah Balfour) affair still in full swing, and Bianca Jackson’s (Patsy Palmer) mission to bring down Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) having hit a bump in the road.
