Emmerdale confirms Tom King’s fate after axe showdown – and it’s bad news for Belle

Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) returned to Wishing Well at the start of tonight’s Emmerdale and revealed to Vinny (Bradley Johnson), Sam (James Hooton) and Lydia (Karen Blick) that she had killed Tom King (James Chase).

Yesterday, a terrifying showdown between Belle and Tom ended when Belle stabbed her abusive husband with an axe. He fell to an old mattress and because of how traumatic and shocking the moment was, it left Belle convinced she had killed him.

As Belle told Sam and Lydia what had happened, Vinny was instructed to check the flat beside the house to see if Tom was there. He was still lying unconscious with the axe sticking out of his back, and Vinny was horrified.

Heading back to the Dingles, Vinny updated Sam and Lydia and together, they came up with a plan. They needed to dispose of Tom’s body and create an alibi for Belle in order to prevent putting her through even more stress with the police.

With that, Lydia took charge and told Sam and Vinny to move Tom. Just as they returned to the location though, they realised Tom was gone.

Yep.

In a twist literally none of us expected, Tom had survived being stabbed in the back by an axe. He had pulled the weapon from his body, made his way out of the Dingle premises and through a woodland path.

Just as Tom made it to a road, he collapsed. He was spotted by Liam (Jonny McPherson), who was out running.

As Tom was wheeled into an ambulance, Vinny and Sam arrived. They asked Liam what had gone on and whether Tom might die, but the lack of information meant they had to go to the hospital themselves.

Meanwhile, Lydia was still with Belle. She tried desperately to keep her calm but the thought of Tom being in the hospital put her in an incredibly panicked state.

Fearing what Tom might say if he was to wake up, Belle got in a car and left the village.

As Belle was driving there, Vinny and Sam were talking to Jimmy (Nick Miles) and Nicola (Nicola Wheeler). The couple were then approached by a doctor, who explained they were struggling to get Tom’s pain levels back under control.

Just as Nicola and Jimmy were ushered into a family room, a distressed Belle arrived.

Stopped by Vinny and Sam, Belle told them that if Tom dies, she has taken another life and won’t know how to live with herself. She also said that if Tom survives, he will send her to prison.

As far as Belle was concerned, her life was over, whichever way the aftermath plays out.
