Emmerdale airs harrowing death as character ‘killed off’ in flashforward – but not Belle

Soap bosses struck hard during this Thursday's Emmerdale instalment as one character was shockingly killed off in a devastating flashforward scene, leaving her family devastated.

Abusive Tom King continues to thrive in Belle’s silence but in a devastating scenario, the wedding planner contemplated the possibility of him killing another innocent villager in Emmerdale.

Reeling from her painful marriage with the sinister vet portrayed by James Chase, Belle Dingle (played by Eden Taylor-Draper) was speechless when she found out he had already moved on to his next target, Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell), and the pair have been dating for several weeks.

Struggling to understand her feelings towards her abuser, Belle imagined multiple scenarios that could play out in the eponymous ITV village, including one where she gave her abusive husband another chance.

But in other scenes aired this Thursday (September 5), Belle also contemplated the possibility that Tom’s behaviour could turn deadly, amid theories he may have even killed his own mother Colleen King.

In the latter scenario, Belle was finally able to move on from the abuse she suffered at the hands of Tom, but Amelia was still firmly under his grasp as her daughter Esther grew into a schoolgirl, blissfully unaware of the torment her mother was going through.

The flashforward saw the wedding planner’s career at an all-time high as she discussed her latest project with business partner Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough), but a burn mark on Amelia’s hand soon caught her attention as she tried to help her, reminding her she knew Tom better than anybody else.

Amelia bluntly dismissed Belle’s concerns, as Tom eerily loomed over her, but in another scene, Belle and Suzy found a devastated Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) outside the home as paramedics carried out the young mother in a body bag, reminding viewers that Tom’s behaviour still has a chance of turning deadly.

This comes as viewers of the long-running show have feared for Amelia and her daughter Esther’s safety as the budding couple appeared to make things official in The Woolpack earlier this week, much to Belle’s shock. And another Dingle could also decide to square up to Tom.

On Tuesday, one fan took to X, otherwise known as Twitter, to suggest: “After tonight’s Episode my theory is this – Noah will see Tom do something to Amelia and he will act – Thus I believe Noah is the one beating up Tom in the Trailer.” While other soap watchers were more concerned about her and her daughter Esther’s well-being.

Thankfully, Belle later found support in the form of Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) as this Thursday’s instalment drew to a close. The Woolpack landlady had been on to Tom for several weeks, particularly after his chaotic trip to Wales with Belle, which ended in a brutal assault.

Charity admitted that, despite her gut feeling that Tom was bad news for Belle, she remained quiet and kept the peace. Belle finally told her the extent of the abuse she had suffered at his hands and was finally believed, while others around her have dismissed her, believing Tom’s comments about her “spiralling” mental health. What will Charity do and could Noah join their efforts to take the sinister vet down?
